This dataset is a compilation of fault (shear displacement) features throughout West Virginia, provided by the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey (WVGES), published as a web feature service, a web map service, an ESRI service and an Excel workbook. The workbook contains 16 worksheets, including information about the template, notes related to revisions of the template, resource provider information, the data, a field list (data mapping view), and various sheets indicating valid terms and URIs for this information exchange. For mapped active faults, which are the scope of this scheme, the deformation style is assumed to be brittle (as opposed to ductile). This resource was provided by the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey and made available for distribution through the National Geothermal Data System. --NGDS
