Led by the Midwest Geological Sequestration Consortium, the IBDP began injecting carbon dioxide into the Mt. Simon Sandstone in November 2011. According to geophysical well logs and core taken at the IBDP site, the Mt. Simon Sandstone is divided into three major lithostratigraphic sections: the Lower, Middle, and Upper.
