Fluidized-bed combustion (FBC) is an innovative mode of combustion. Bed, in engineering terms, is the place of action, the reactor. The term "fluidized" refers to a state of solid-gas dynamic equilibrium where a solid-gas mixture, literally, behaves like a fluid. Combustion is the oxidation of fuels to produce thermal energy.
