ANALYSIS OF PASSIVE ACOUSTICAL SIGNALS GENERATED BY AN IN SITU COAL GASIFICATION PROCESS

License(s):

Other (Open)

Acoustic data obtained by monitoring an in situ coal gasification process are presented and analyzed. Sources of discrete signals associated with the process are located by trangulation. Signal levels indicate surface monitoring to be infeasible while at the same time resolution requirements demand an array that surrounds the process. Development of more sophisticated analysis techniques and hardware may allow passive monitoring to become a useful diagnostic tool for in-situ coal gasification.
