Application of NRAP-IAM-CS for Preliminary Risk Assessment for GCS Candidate Site Selection

Key Findings:

  • Results indicate that both sites can achieve more than 99.99% storage performance over a period of one thousand years, much higher than the IPCC 99% goal

  • This work has direct applicability for communicating risk performance and risk-related considerations to key GCS stakeholders, and suggests a path forward to incorporate comparative risk assessment into the GCS site selection process
