CO2 Capture from IGCC Gas Streams Using the AC-ABC Process

SRI International (SRI)’s goal was development of a carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technology for integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC)-based power plants that uses a high-capacity and low-cost aqueous solution containing ammonium carbonate (AC) that reacts with CO2 to form ammonium bicarbonate (ABC). SRI partnered with Bechtel Hydrocarbon Technology Solutions (BHTS) to use the Bechtel Pressure Swing Claus (BPSC) process to remove sulfur species from the recovered CO2 stream.
