Other (Open)

With the publics growing awareness of environmental problems and because of the adoption of more stringent federal and state regulatory standards, conventional secondary biological wastewater treatment facilities are not performing to the necessary degree to meet the water quality standards for secondary effluents. In order to achieve these effluent standards, point sources of pollution must be attacked by treatment processes with the capability of substantially treating a wastewater for the removal of color, heavy metals, and organics beyond the proficiency of a conventional activated sludge treatment process.
