Commercial Carbon Capture Design and Costing: Part Two (C3DC2)

ION Clean Energy, Inc. (ION), Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), and their partners are conducting a front-end engineering design (FEED) study for a carbon capture system designed for retrofit onto Unit 2 of NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Station (GGS2), a 700-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station located in Western Nebraska. For the proposed project, a 700-MW-equivalent (two parallel 350 megawatt-electric [MWe] capture units) commercial-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) capture plant will be designed and costed for GGS2. The team is leveraging work performed during a previously awarded commercial carbon capture design and costing project (FE0031595).
