Comparison of three solid waste batch leach testing methods and a column leach test method

License(s):

Other (Open)

A study was conducted on various extraction techniques for solid wastes. The batch versus column extraction methods were assessed. A standard fly ash material was leached from one hour to 96 hours. The leachates were analyzed by spectrophotometers for selenium, chromium, arsenic, lead and cadmium. The results show that the batch test can be improved by increasing the liquid-to-solid ratio, and that the leaching time may be decreased.
