CONSTITUTION OF GREEN RIVER OIL SHALE

Oil shale from the Green River formation was formed from sediments deposited in two lakes. Lake Uintah in Colorado and Utah, and Lake Goshute in Wyoming. During most of their 6 million year life span. These lakes were chemically stratified into two stable zones, one atop the other.
