DISTRIBUTION OF EXTRACTABLE ALUMINUM AND SODIUM IN A SALINE FACIES OF THE GREEN RIVER FORMATION, NORTHWEST COLORADO

In this paper we will discuss the occurrence and distribution of these minerals within the enclosing matrix of oil shale; portray the geologic and geochemical framework in which these minerals were deposited; and briefly summarize what these minerals mean in terms of extractable resources of sodium and aluminum, emphasizing extraction processes which are compatible with recovery of oil shale.
