This plan addresses four EH&S research programs within the boundaries of their current funding levels-oil shale ($5.7 million), underground coal gasification ($700,000), enhanced oil recovery ($300,000), and tar sands oil recovery ($150,000). Detailed descriptions of these technologies along with their environmental impacts, problems, and uncertainties are contained in the individual EH&S program plan. A brief description of funding levels and justification for each of these programs is included here.
