Drill cutting sampling for oil yields of Green River oil shales

License(s):

Other (Open)

Drill cuttings from oil and gas wells penetrating the Green River formation have been the primary source of samples from this huge oil shale deposit in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. The Federal Bureau of Mines uses oil yields of such samples in one phase of its research to characterize these deposits. By comparative sampling the representations of actual oil yields of the formation oil shales by two types of drill cuttings were evaluated.
