The Bureau of Mines has analyzed many naphthas by refractometric methods including a number which have appreciable sulfur contents. The effect of sulfur compounds on the analysis has been studied both from the standpoint of the properties of the pure sulfur compounds, and from analyses of naphthas before end after desulfurization. The results of these studies indicate that within certain limits sulfur compounds have negligible effects.
