Following the termination of the Tribes Indian Mineral Development Act (IMDA) Agreement with Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. (GCRL) the Tribes were assigned all the non-tribal leases by GCRL. Armed with 3D seismic data from that exploration venture and with DOE funded surface exploration data, the Tribes have encouraged a drilling proposal for at least two 7,000 ft. oil tests by El Tres Exploration of Houston Texas. These lie within Area 6 of DOE Grant #DE-PS26- 00BC15192, also known as the Wicape 3D Seismic Prospect Area. Semi-annual report #15192R01 summarized the initial confirmation of surface hydrocarbon anomalies in the Wicape area that correlated well to previously identified 3D seismic structural prospects. Semi-annual report #15192R02 showed in detail the data and map interpretations derived from this area that have encouraged El Tres to explore for oil in the area.
