Electron microprobe studies of Mahogany Zone and Devonian oil shales

License(s):

Other (Open)

Efforts are being directed at characterizing the rock matrices in the oil shales to determine how and where the oil and gas resources are contained. This paper demonstrates the utility of the electron microprobe in characterizing both Western and Devonian shales. The studies have just begun, but do allow some initial comments about similarities and differences between the shales and some speculation about their formation. (DLC)
