Other (Open)

This article contains a detailed description and analysis of the results of experiments in underground gasification at the Lisichansk Experimental Mine, which experiments were prepared for two years and lasted ten months. The experiments were first conducted in delineated panels of coal with preliminary crushing of the coal and then in bore holes drilled into the coal. The editor feels that one must approach the authors conclusions with some caution for, as we know, in recent years a tangle of contradictory opinions has been expressed concerning the paths which progress towards solution of this difficult and complex problem has taken and should take, and Comrade Kirichenko is a partrisan in this quarrel.
