Project Final Report-08123-02-A pilot alkaline/surfactant/polymer (ASP) flood has been conducted. A four-step design approach, composed of a) process and material selection; b) formulation optimization; c) core flood validation; 4) numerical simulation, was successfully conducted and this methodology could be applied to any other EOR project. The optimal chemical formulation recovered over 90% residual oil in a Berea core flood. The simulation model accurately history matches the core flood experiment and allowed us to scale from the lab scale to the pilot scale. Different operating strategies were simulated for the pilot. These cases allowed us to evaluate the sensitivities of project economics to various design parameters. A field execution plan was proposed based on the results of the simulation study.
