Since the first nuclear blast was set off in 1945 in Alamorgordo, the men who have worked with nuclear weapons have speculated on the possibility of utilizing this tremendous force for peaceful purposes. Nuclear explosives are capable of releasing enormous amounts of energy from a compact and readily transported package. This feature, which has revolutionized military strategy can also be employed for peaceful purposes.
