Gas Hydrates - Technology Status Report

In 1983, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) assumed the responsibility for expanding the gas hydrates knowledge base and for developing methods to recover hydrates. This research is part of the Unconventional Gas Recovery (UGR) program, a multidisciplinary effort that focuses on developing the technology to produce natural gas from resources that have been classified as unconventional because of their unique geologies and production mechanisms.
