The enormous deposits of oil shale in various sections of the US are often mentioned as possible future sources of motor fuel and fuel oil. the oil shale fields of the US have been divided into three general classes- oil shale of the Rocky Mountain region, Devonian black shale of the Eastern States, and cannel shale of the Eastern States.
