GULF PARTICIPATION IN HANNA III, AN UNDERGROUND COAL GASIFICATION EXPERIMENT NEAR HANNA, WYOMING

The underground coal gasification project at Hanna, Wyoming is being conducted by the Laramie Energy Research Center for the US DOE. UCG provides a means of utilizing the energy of otherwise inaccessible subbituminous coal by combusting it in place to produce a low Btu gas. Hanna III was the third in a series of UCG field tests which began in 1973.
