Improvement of Fracturing in Gas Shales

The objective of this project was to develop non-damaging fracture fluids (including proppants) for gas shale reservoirs that also minimize water use (and disposal) and demonstrate their use by field tests. Use of ultra-light weight proppants will be combined with foams to maximize fracture length, minimize formation damage, minimize water use, and minimize fluid disposal. The project will be executed in two phases: fluid development and field demonstration.
