IMPROVEMENT OF THE IGNITION QUALITY OF SHALE-OIL DIESEL FUELS BY OXIDATION

License(s):

Other (Open)

This study was undertaken to determine if the octane number of primary shale-oil diesel fuel could be increased by direct oxidation of the oil. If oxidation produced peroxides in the oil then it would be expected that the octane number would be improved and if it could be accomplished without detriment to other qualities of the oil, such a process might have practical application in refining shale oil.
