"The U.S. Army Waterways Experiment Station (USAE-WES) has a contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, Laramie Project Office, to perform a study entitled, ""Acoustic Emissions for Determination of Tar Sand Production Fronts."" The aim of the project is to evaluate the feasibility of using acoustic emission (AE) technology to monitor the production front within a tar-sand deposit during in-situ recovery operations."
