Measurement and Interpretation of Seismic Attenuation for Hydrocarbon Exploration

License(s):

Other (Open)

The goals of this project are to develop our understanding of seismic loss mechanisms; measure attenuation in the laboratory; extract time-lapse attenuation estimates from field data; and interpret the results in terms of pore fluid and reservoir changes. This project is a combined effort of several organizations: Chevron Energy Technology Company, the Colorado School of Mines, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the University of California at Berkeley.
