To study modern barrier island deposition, two NIPER geologists participated in a field trip to Padre Island. Their objective was to study lateral relationships of facies and to relate vertical sequences of facies in ancient outcrops to subsurface deposits such as that at Bell Creek field. Geological and engineering data from Bell Creek field were collected for the NIPER research on geological heterogeneities.
