MPC 10-4 Injection Test Analyses

An injection/pressure fall-off test was planned for well 10-4 #1. An expected radial flow regime and subsequent Log-Log derivative analysis would provide estimates on initial reservoir pressure, effective permeability, and total skin. A step rate test and a constant injection rate test were performed on June 6th. The tests showed some anomalous pressure behavior during the early times of the shut-in period, which could only be modeled with a changing wellbore storage option. The test results show a high skin value of over 1,000. The high skin value is an indication of severe damage at the wellbore. The temperature logs showed that the upper 10 ft of perforations 5,020-5,030 ft appeared to take the most fluid with the interval 5,090-5,120 ft also taking fluid. The lowermost interval 5,190-5,210 also took fluid but the interval 5,210-5,225 ft apparently took little if any. The decision was made to re-perforate the intervals on June 11th using slightly lower depths (by 0.5 ft) and changed phasing of the guns to avoid overshooting the existing perforations. A final constant injection rate was initiated on June 12th at a rate of 5.5 bpm for 4 hours. A total of 1,285 bbls of water was injected into the reservoir and the pressure falloff was monitored for 14 hours. Radial flow regime was observed 0.1 hour after shut-in. The analysis results of this test show a lower skin value compared to the June 6th test. The late-time upward trend in the log-log pressure derivative data does not impact the analysis.
