Program Year 2. The overall objective of this program is to expand the process and environmental data base for moving-bed hydroretorting of Eastern oil shales. The process data will be used to define the operating conditions for efficient utilization of Eastern oil shales using moving-bed hydroretorting technology. Additionally, novel concepts which have the potential for increasing process efficiency and resource utilization will be investigated. The environmental data will be used to assess the potential environmental impact of a commercial-scale moving-bed hydroretorting facility and to identify the suitable environmental control technologies for a moving-bed hydroretorting facility.
