Other (Open)

"This report discusses X-ray and petrographic examinations made on oil shale and torbanite samples from deposits in five foreign countries: Glen Davis and Coolaway Mountain, New South Wales, Australia; the Treinembe-Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil; the Ermelo, Transvaal, Union of South Africa; Orepuki, New Zealand; and Autun, France. The samples were collected by members of the Bureau of Mines Technical Missions who were sent to foreign countries having active oil shale operations to determine the technological development in this field. Photographs of specimens, photomicrographs of thin sections, brief descriptions of deposits, oil yields, and discussion of samples are given. All yields of shale and oil are given in U.S. gallons and U.S. tons of 2,000 pounds each."
