Pricetown I: Underground coal gasification experiment, Pricetown, West Virginia: Environmental assessment

This document assesses the environmental impacts for the underground or in situ gasification of eastern coal at a selected site near Pricetown, West Virginia. The experiment is being conducted by the US Department of Energy's Morgantown Energy Technology Center (METC) as part of its R and D program to develop the underground coal gasification technology. The METC project is the only US Department of Energy field activity directed toward the development and evaluation of the concept of the underground gasification of eastern bituminous coals.
