Research in the area of methane from coal seams is directed towards adapting and improving techniques for producing natural gas from coal and associated strata. Verification field tests are being conducted at two sites to validate concepts for geophysical techniques, drilling fluids, dewatering, fracturing, casing and cementing, and reservoir modeling.
