We intend to give a survey of the experiments carried out since the war in the various countries, with special reference to those in which the CERCHAR participated, i.e those at Bois-la-Dame and at Djerada. To begin with we shall give, for the sake of clearness, a few general indications concerning the phenomena that subterranean gasification brings into play.
