The immediate project is to endeavor to establish how small a laser spot we can use, so as to enhance the resolution of the instrumentation. We are hoping to increase it by a factor of two, and trying to make it a factor of ten. If we can achieve the latter, we should be close to the resolution given by a photographic densitometer scan, and hence improve the correlation between the two methods dramatically.
