Objective is to study the feasibility of using an EFAS (evanescent field absorbance sensor) FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopic sensor coupled with CPT (cone penetrometry) as a field screening method for hydrocarbon contamination in soil. Work during this period focused on testing of different waxes for use in mid- infrared, and for extraction of TCE, ethylbenzene, and m-xylene.
