A scientific piston-coring cruise, aimed at studying the distribution of shallow gas hydrate deposits was conducted aboard the RV Marion Dufresne in July 2002. Thermal conductivity, a property related to the rate of heat transport through a medium and which is used to determine heat flow, was measured on a total of 23 cores.
