UNDERGROUND GASIFICATION FOR STEEPLY DIPPING COAL BEDS RAWLINS

License(s):

Other (Open)

The first US field test of in situ gasification for a steeply dipping coal seam was recently completed. The test was performed by Gulf Research & Development Company under a cost-shared agreement with DOE with TRW as a major subcontractor. This is one of the four field test programs currently funded by DOE; however, this effort is the only one led by an industrial participant. The project was developed utilizing the technology base provided by DOE in its other field tests and translations of the considerable Russian experiences.
