The Bureau of Mines research into the processing of oil shale has led to the design and construction of a 150 ton capacity retort approximately 1 mile north of Laramie, Wyoming. On February 1, 198, a 500 by 550- foot tract of land was leased from the Union Pacific Railroad CO. for a period of 5 years and the lease is renewable at the end of the period. The retort and associated support structures are presently under construction
