UPDATED ON THE HYTORT PROCESS

The HYTORT Process was first conceived by IGT in an attempt to convert oil shales to methane for production of high-Btu gas. The initial work on reacting hydrogen with shale started in 1963-64, when the concept of a co-current flow reactor contacting hot hydrogen with shale was explored.
