The Anvil Points Oil Shale Facility is a 4720 acre tract located within the Naval Oil Shale Reserve in Garfield County, Colorado. The facility occurs along the Roan Cliffs with approximately one-half occurring on the Roan Plateau and the remainder along the escarpment and in the Valley of the Colorado River. The location is shown relative to these and other regional features in Figure 1. Elevations ranges from approximately 5200 feet above mean sea level along the southern boundary of the site to 9200 feet on hilltops of the plateau area, north of the escarpment.
