Visualization of MFIX-Exa Simulation of NETL 50kW CLR

The exascale demonstration problem for the ECP code MFIX-Exa was a short-duration CFD-DEM simulation of NETL’s 50kW CLR. In order to ensure that the demonstration simulation exercised physically relevant operating conditions, a low-fidelity PIC simulation was first carried out for five seconds. Then, the PIC-to-DEM application was used to generate the high-fidelity CFD-DEM condition for the challenge problem simulation on OLCF’s Frontier. This visualization, rendered with paraview, investigates the state of the CLR at the end moment of the PIC-to-DEM transformation. This animation was conceptualized and rendered as part of the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship activities of Alexander Biggs.
